NK kids take part in theatre
Sixty children from the Arts Alive service area, which includes New Kent County, performed Aug. 7 as the Missoula Children’s Theatre presented “Robinson Crusoe.”
The local cast featured Bailey Tyler as Robinson Crusoe, Parker Wallace as Wilson, his sole companion, and Mariah Hancock as Leonard the Leopard.
Also featured were Friday’s Family, played by Alexandra Puccio, Sam Shahinian, Cody Davis, Hannah Capps, Aaliyah Webb, and Josh Eckert. Amanda Geltmacher played the band leader, Oscar the Octopus, and featured Lily George, Cope Brown, Heather Edwards, Chloe Pollard, Kindred Grey, Bella Pollard, and Suzanne Prince as the Oscar Octopus Octet band members.
The local family of goats included Canada Luchard as Billy, Andrew Morris as Bill, Jessica Estok as Willy, Ben Wallace as Will and Sasha Bronder as Wilma.
Cristin Cade, Meryl Carlton, Jennifer Estok, Katie Gibson, Rachel Groover, Ben Guerrant, Shannon Hayden, Halie Loranger, Lauren Neale, Wyatt Pederson, Chloe Picone, Michael Puccio, Hannah Schureman, Demi Sparks, Rachel Stanley, Maggie Styers, Kylee Swedo, Jessica Teagle, Kelsey West, Miranda West, Lindsay Williams, and Meg Wilson appeared as the very hairy, very scary Frowny-Face Tribe.
The colorful chameleons were played by Tia Bronder, Charles Brown, Justine Eckert, Clara Foster, Sofia Foster, Lily Harrell, Gage Luchard, Brenna Peterman, Mea Piccone, Emma Ragsdale, Taylor Richardson, Zoe Robinson, Lily Styers, Molly Wallace, and Braden West. Friday was played by MCT tour actor/director Noah Weary. Morgan Carlton, Phillip Liberato, Becca Hart, and Kate Hudson served as assistant directors throughout the week.
The Missoula Children’s Theatre residency in West Point is presented locally by Arts Alive Inc. and West Point schools with support from the town of West Point, the counties of King William and New Kent, Virginia Commission for the Arts, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
Arts Alive thanks the large number of volunteers who assisted with the camp in providing supervision and workshops, and particularly camp director Bev Hammond and assistant camp director Katherine Guerrant for their efforts in planning for and making this camp fun for all the campers.
