Letter to the Editor: Says country better off than four years ago
I am compelled to respond to the question: Are we better off today than four years ago? The answer is yes.
President Obama saved this country from possible financial collapse while simultaneously keeping the American auto industry alive, signing an equal pay bill for women into law, removing the middle man (banks) from student loans, adding over 4 million private sector jobs, cutting taxes over 15 times, eliminating terrorist leaders, and implementing health care for millions. Unemployment is down to 7.8 percent. All of these facts are a tribute to the president’s perseverance. And as for the credit rating downgrade, blame it on the obstructionist Congress.
Despite his enormous accomplishments, come of our politicians pledged not to work with him to ensure he serves only one term, which suggests a certain segment didn’t want to see us doing better today. For the disappointed people who have seen fit to disrespect this administration like no other, called the president despicable names, and even stated he is not an American, clearly policies are not what’s relevant.
Unfortunately the president has found himself in a long line of firsts, which carries a substantial amount of built-in challenges. As for the other side, their nominee has consistently changed his position before every audience since the primaries, so I’m not sure what Gov. Romney stands for. But shortly, the American electorate will have to decide.
The question I have for you before you vote is: Do you remember what the four years were like before the last presidential election?
