Scholarships in arts, music to be given by Arts Alive
Arts Alive Inc. is awarding two $1,000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors in its service area that includes New Kent County.
The C. Herbert Brown Jr. Performing Arts Scholarship, established in memory of a late founder, president, and director, helps seniors who plan to major or minor in music education, music (instrumental or voice), dance, or theatre.
The Andy Conklin Visual Arts Scholarship, presented in honor of another late founder, president, and director, helps seniors who plan to major or minor in the studio arts, art history, or art education.
Completed applications and all required information must be received by Arts Alive by 5 p.m. on April 1. Recipients are eligible for an additional award of $500 for a second year during their college career if they continue with their major or minor.
Applications are available through area high school guidance counselors or on the Arts Alive website under “Organization” at www.artsaliveinc.org.
