LaSertoma offers scholarship grant, service award

Bottom of the Bridge LaSertoma is sponsoring a Youth Service Cash Award for a student or an adult in New Kent County and a Scholarship Grant Award for a New Kent High School senior.

To be eligible for the Youth Service Cash Award, a student or adult must be a resident of New Kent County and been recognized for providing volunteer community service or school required service activities, and has exemplified leadership in performing community service projects. Deadline for application submission is March 8.

A high school senior can apply for the scholarship grant. The scholarship is based on financial/special needs, transcript of grades, future education, and community work/leadership. The student selected will compete for an additional $750 scholarship grant through LaSertoma International. Deadline for scholarship applications is April 11.

Applications for both are available at the New Kent High School guidance counselor’s office or by calling Brenda Johnston, LaSertoma chairperson, at 932-9423. Applications must be returned to Jennifer Smethurst, guidance counselor, at New Kent High School by the above dates.
