NK, CC landowners eligible for grant

Landowners in New Kent and Charles City along with 24 other counties can benefit from $120,000 in USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service grant funding if they agree to install forestry practices designed to improve the health of the Chesapeake Bay.

Landowners can receive incentive payments for up to 75 percent of the costs associated with developing forest management plans, establishing forested buffers, planting trees, improving forests, and/or excluding livestock from wooded areas.

Though program signup is continuous, deadlines for upcoming ranking periods are March 15, April 19, and May 17.
