DeAndre’ Short, a senior at New Kent High School, received a $3,000 scholarship after participating in the Annual Scholarship Competition at Lynchburg College.
The scholarship competition was held to recognize achievements of those students who excel in the college’s traditions of scholarship, leadership, and community service. The value of the award over four years is $12,000.
Short, the son of LaVerne Allen of Providence Forge, has been accepted to Lynchburg College and was one of over 300 students competing for scholarships through completion of an essay writing contest and interviews with college faculty members.
The $3,000 Scholarship Competition Award is given in addition to a merit-based scholarship previously awarded at time of admission. Both scholarships are renewable for the four years a student is enrolled at the college.
