Partnering with Chesapeake Conservancy, the Dominion Foundation, Charles City Recreation Advisory Committee, and Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation, Charles City County now serves as the only public boat ramp within a 36-mile radius along the banks of the James River. In the works since 2008, the project was constructed at a cost of $125,000 by Harbor Dredge and Dock. Completion of the ramp occurred in December 2012 and the ramp reopened to the public this past February. Access to the ramp is free for county residents, while a $10 fee applies to non-residents.Andre' Jones photos
