The Macon Family received a standing ovation and was recognized by New Kent Supervisors, Sheriff’s Office, and Fire and Rescue for their heroic efforts as their combined actions saved the lives of a New Kent woman and her two young children. On Aug. 26, the family came into contact with an accident on Old River Road and rescued the stranded party from the lightly traveled road. (From l to r) Joshua Macon made the 911 call, while Al Macon and Clifton Macon pulled the family from the wreckage before the vehicle became engulfed in flames while also providing medical aid, and Jackie Macon cared for the young children until EMS paramedics arrived.
