JTCC hosting financial aid workshop

John Tyler Community College will be host a “Super FASFA” week event on Feb. 1, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., in Bird Hall, rooms B124 and B126 at the Chester campus location, l3101 Jefferson Davis Highway.

In conjunction with the Virginia Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (VASFAA), the event is an annual service project where individuals seeking funding for postsecondary education receive free, professional assistantance in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA) forms.

Parents and students will hav access to computers in order to complete the forms, as well as financial aid representatives guiding them through the process. A ‘Financial Aid 101’ presentation will offer insight and an overview of federal and state resources to the applciation process.

The event is open to students and parents of all grade levels, returning college students, and older adults who have an interest in furthering their education.

As an incentive for attending the Super FASFA event, students will have a chance to win a $100 book scholarship that will be awarded to one individual winner.

Super FASFA week is open to the public and is partly funded by the College Access Challenge Grant program.
