Letter to the editor: Says information on CC schools is not factual
I would like to reiterate that the responsibilities of the (Charles City) Board of Supervisors are to plan, develop and regulate growth, and to maintain current county operations and services.
The (Charles City) School Board’s responsibilities are to establish programs and procedures that will produce the best educational opportunities for our students as well as to accomplish wise management of the resources available to the district.
In order to achieve any form of success, these two boards must collaborate with each other as a well-oiled machine. When any member of either board publicly denounces the efforts of another, this becomes an unethical conflict of interest. Any board member, whether he or she sits on the board of supervisors or the school board can be removed if they do not conform to the best interests of our children and community.
A community shares common attitudes, goals, and interests. It is the supervisors’ job to support and nurture the county’s growth and enrich its environment, not your own pockets. I don’t know what the motives are or who you are working for, but it seems certainly not to be for the residents of Charles City County.
I feel that if one finds the necessity to quote derogatory remarks in public print, while trying to create a bogus ploy such as the farce of an invalid research survey, is grounds for impeachment.
From November 1, 2013 to January 27, 2014, there were only 43½ official school days in which students attended school. There is no possible way that research of any merit could be conducted resulting in substantial data. Furthermore, anyone can manipulate and crunch numbers to obtain their own personal desired outcome. Research of this caliber must be done in retrospect over a time period much larger than 43 ½ days.
Can we really even trust anyone who doesn’t have a child in the system, especially when they have crossed the line? Or do we simply get to the root of the problem? I guarantee you the cosmic scales will be balanced. I hope you will find yourself on the right side.
Furthermore, as far as being overfunded and underachieved, I have been a resident of Charles City for almost 15 years. My child was born and reared with Charles City County Schools and she is extremely accomplished!
