NK Historical Society meeting Mar. 16

New Kent Historical Society will hold its Spring meeting on Sunday, Mar. 16, 2:30 p.m. at New Kent Courthouse.

Guest speaker of the meeting will be Jim Harris, a cofounder of the local chapter who specializes in Colonial American history with an emphasis on New Kent.

Among topics to be discussed include the organization’s second annual writing contest. It is open to middle school age students, with information located on the group’s website. Other topics include an update on the purchase and development of the museum, as well as a brief description of the New Kent Historic Commission’s event “World War II: Freedom calls New Kent.” That event is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, June 7.

Members and the general public are invited to attend the Mar. 16 meeting.
