NK wastewater plant wins third award

New Kent County’s Parham Landing Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) won the 2013 Plant Performance Award for the third consecutive year.

Awarded by Aqua-Aerobic Systems, the plant received recognition based on criteria and data collected by the company each month and compared with several plants across the county.

Parham Landing WWTP is now registered to win two days of complimentary services from the company that may be used for services such as training, preventative mainatanence, or other service needs.

Public utilities director Larry Dame said the award is due to the dedication of the operators at the plant with additional recognition for the plant manager, Samuel “Buddy” Alter.

“Alter’s dedication to the plant and staff is something that is rare in today’s workforce,” said Dame. “He doesn’t hesitate to work the hours necessary to have the Parham Landing WWTP continue to achieve unprecedented performance.

“He sets the standard for his operators and through his guidance, they have achieved this award,” concluded Dame.
