New Kent Relay for life to commence May 31 and conclude June 1 at NKHS

The 2014 Relay for Life of New Kent is May 31-June 1, 2014, at New Kent High School track.

Relay for Life is a team event in the fight against cancer where friends, neighbors, famileis, and coworkers commit to keep at least one member walking around a track at all times.

We invite all cancer survivors to be our guests for the opening ceremony at 6 p.m. to celebrate their vicotry over cancer. when the sun goes down, hundreds of luminaria (paper bags filled with sand and candles) light the way under the stars as ceremony and silent lap help us to remember those we’ve lost and support those still fighting cancer.

Luminaria are available for a contribution to the American Cancer Society. Participants then celebrate that they’ve made it through the night and pledge to fight back against the disease.
