New Kent County schools hosted its annual Celebration of the Arts last Saturday, showcasing student artwork and performances during an all-day event at the high school. Visitors also had opportunities to participate in several workshops that took place during the day.

High school drama students stage a prod uction of “Jack and the Beanstalk” directed by senior Moriah Hancock.
In this scene, Jack meets his fairy godmother.

Back in the high school’s drama room, kids (above and below) rehearse their dance moves for their adaptation of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.”

A group of students in zombie makeup from all four
county schools dance as a “flash mob ” in the hallway, much to the delight of guests.

Part of the middle and high school band’s percussion section is shown performing in concert in the auditorium.
