Chickahmoniny Health District offers screenings

Chickahominy Health District, the district serving Charles City and New Kent, is offering free mammogram or Pap test to eligible women.

Through the Every Woman’s Life (EWL) health program administered by the Virginia Department of Health, the program provides access to free breast and cervical cancer screenings and other diagnostic servies for low income and uninsured/underinsured women.

The program is provided to help detect early stages of cancer and increase survival chances through early treatment. EWL is new to the Chickahominy District and is starting an outreach program, with a July 1 launch date.

To qualify for a free mammogram or pap test, you must be a woman between the ages of 40-64, a resident of Virginia, have no insurance or cannot afford to pay your insurance deductible. Other qualifications include total gross income below for the household’s size (1-$23,340; 2-$31,460; 3-$39,580; 4-$47,700; 5-$55,820).
