Hancock awarded Arts Alive Inc. scholarship

Arts Alive Inc. Board of Directors announced Moriah Hancock, a recent graduate of New Kent High School, as the recipient of the Herbert C. Brown Jr. Performing Arts Scholarship.

The $1,000 scholarship was established in memory of C. Herbert Brown Jr., founder and president of Arts Alive, and is awarded to a student who plans to major in performing arts in college.

Hancock will be attending Virginia Commonwealth University and major in theater. She received the scholarship for maintaining leadership roles including dance team captain, governing board secretary, and acting coach. She graduated with a grade-point average of 3.8.
