“Senior Idol” returns to New Kent

George W. Watkins Alumni and Scholastic Association will host its annual “Senior Idol-Gospel Revue” event on Saturday, Oct. 18, 3 p.m., at George Watkins Elementary School.

The show will give seniors ages 60 and up an opportunity be named the 2014 New Kent County Senior Idol. Contestants will sing two spiritual or gospel songs and be rated by a panel of judges based on originality, style, and stage presence. Awards will be given to both the winner and runner-up.

Interested participants must be age 60 or over by Oct. 1 and reside in New Kent. Contestants must submit entry forms by Sept. 16. To obtain a form, contact Sharon Jordan at 932-4346 or by email at jrdnkmtj@verizon.com.
