Above, John Scrivani, a former member of New York City's Emergency Response Team and a first responder during the Sept. 11 attacks, addresses the crowd during New Kent County's annual remembrance ceremony. Scrivani, who is now employed by Virginia's Department of Transportation, encourages and reminds attendees to remember despite the passing of time of the events that occurred on that day. Below, members of New Kent's Sheriff's Office, New Kent Fire & Rescue, Quinton Fire & Rescue, and other first responders from neighboring vicinities stand at attention to honor those who lost their lives on that day.
