B.J. Cunningham (left) of the Rite Aid Corporation presents a $10,000 check to Catherine Pierce (right) as a donation to Matthew’s Haven on Sept. 16. The donation is part of the corporation’s KidCents program that designates taking spare change from purchases and forming grants to provide to charities. Matthew’s Haven is the first New Kent program to receive the grant, with Pierce indicating funds will be used to help launch the SELFIE (Supporting, Empowering, Love & Finding Independence & Esteem) initiative.
