Letter to the Editor: Says inalienable rights being denied

We see every day that Christians are being persecuted and even murdered in barbaric ways throughout the world. But what is disturbing to me the most is the persecution of Christians in the United States by our own government.

The first amendment clearly states that “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech.” The recognition and public observance is not the establishing of any religion.

Under the Declaration of Independence states, “that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” But when we express our objections to the persecution and discrimination of Christians we are told to be silent or accused of being racist.

Under Article II, section 3, states the president “shall take care that the laws be faithfully executed.” But instead, Obama only enforces the laws he agrees with and ignores those he doesn’t. “We are no longer a Christian nation,” so stated Obama. Are we becoming Islamic?

There can only be one reason that our government is violating the first amendment. By removing “God” from our lives, there cannot be any God-given inalienable rights.

God is the key to establishing America’s freedom and liberty that we have enjoyed. It was the Christian tenets that our Declaration of Independence was declared and the Constitution of the United States followed.

The desire for religious freedom inspired the early American immigration, not freedom from religion. There is nothing in the Constitution that mentions separation of church and state. As a Christian people our founding fathers wrote that all people of religious faith had the freedom to worship freely and openly in our Christian nation.

It offends me that some believe they should be protected from being offended and that we Christians should be denied our constitutional rights and that it only protects them. It is an attack against our God-given inalienable rights that no government shall be able to deny us.
