Shopping with an officer

Sixteen children from New Kent County families got to “shop with a cop” on Dec. 7 at the Brook Road Walmart in Richmond as part of the annual Cops Who Care program headed by the New Kent Sheriff’s Office and Henrico Fraternal Order of Police. Above, fourth grader Dallas Anstead picks out a remote controlled car as part of his toy allowance as New Kent Deputy Amanda Barnett manages his budget. Kids received $200 each to spend, but under strict guidelines. Half of the amount had to be spent on clothing and other essentials.
