Virginia Early Childhood Foundation (VECF) awarded Smart Beginnings Greater Richmond, a school readiness initiative that serves localities in the greater Richmond area including Charles City and New Kent, a $180,000 grant.

The grant will help impact children at a young age by providing a strong background at an early age.

“By advancing school readiness, Smart Beginnings Greater Richmond and its community partners will create a stronger and more educated workforce that is capable of competing in the global economy,” said Kathy Glazer.

“We are honored to receive such a generous grant that will support our long-range goals to provide meaningful and enriching early learning opportunities for young children in our region,” added Brad Armstrong, representative of Smart Beginnings Greater Richmond. “The workforce development pipeline begins with young children who have a strong foundation so they will start school healthy and ready to learn.”
