GFOA award presented to New Kent’s finance department

New Kent County’s Financial Services Department received the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its budget.

The award is presented to departments that meet the guidelines of a satisfactory budget. Those areas include how the budget is a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide, and a communications device. A “proficient” rating must be met in all four categories and the fourteen criteria within those categories to receive the award.

“This award represents a significant achievement by the county,” commented New Kent County Administrator Rodney Hathaway. “It reflects the commitment of financial services staff to meeting what I understand is the highest principles of governmental budgeting.”

Six employees of New Kent’s Financial Services Department were presented the award.
