Traffic detours in effect for parade

The 2012 Providence Forge Christmas Parade is Sunday, Dec. 9, starting at 2 p.m. and concluding between 3:15 and 3:45 p.m. The parade will travel west on Pocahontas Trail (Route 60) from the intersection of the western end of Carriage Road to Olivet Church Road. At Olivet Church Road, the parade will make a U-turn and travel back eastbound on Route 60 to the area of Carriage Road.

Once the parade begins, all four lanes east and westbound on Route 60 will be closed. Motorists who wish to get around the parade will be detoured onto Boulevard Road. The detour will be activated at approximately 1:50 p.m. and will end at approximately 4 p.m.

Motorists traveling through Providence Forge on North Courthouse Road should expect delays and should anticipate using another route if traveling through the area. Also, for those who live on or are visiting the area of Carriage Road, be aware that floats and other parade participants will begin to line up on Carriage Road around 11 a.m. The sheriff’s office will work to reduce delays and minimize inconvenience. For questions, contact the sheriff’s office at 966-9500 and ask to speak with Lt. Jamie Hamby.

More charges for auto break-in trio

More charges have been filed against three men arrested earlier this month in connection with a series of auto break-ins in the Quinton area of New Kent County. The latest charges incurred by Brandon Patrick Davis, 18, Michael Scott Davis Jr., 22, and Christopher Shane Goode, 20, all of the 9600 block of Crumps Mill Road, Quinton, relate to credit card theft and fraud.

Brandon Davis faces two counts each of credit card fraud and petit larceny along with one count each of credit card theft and conspiracy to commit grand larceny. Both Michael Davis and Goode are charged with two counts each of third or subsequent offense larceny and conspiracy to commit a felony plus one count each of credit card theft and fraud. A sheriff’s report listed the date of the offenses as Nov. 5, coinciding with the rash of vehicle break-ins that occurred overnight on Nov. 4-5. Sheriff’s personnel charged all three suspects with the latest crimes on Nov. 13. All three were being held without bond in Henrico Jail East.

Sheriff’s personnel arrested the trio on Nov. 8 and charged all three with one count each of burglary, grand larceny, and grand larceny of a firearm along with several misdemeanors stemming from the break-ins that occurred in the Kenwood Farms and Greenwood Estates subdivisions and along G.W. Watkins Road. Both locked and unlocked vehicles along with a garage were entered. Items reported missing included firearms, hunting equipment, electronics, musical instruments, and cash.
