A New Kent County man is charged with 19 felony counts stemming from a series of recent incidents, and a West Point man faces assault on a law enforcement officer following their recent arrests by New Kent sheriff’s personnel.

Daniel Grayson Vaughan, 23, of the 8000 block of Old Roxbury Road, Quinton, is charged with 16 counts of grand larceny, two counts of burglary, and one count of credit card theft in connection with a series of incidents that occurred during recent months at a residence on Old Roxbury Road. Items taken include jewelry, cash, and firearms. Vaughan, who was arrested on April 9 by Deputy Wyatt Johnston, was being held without bond in Henrico Jail East.

Darin Scott Dixon, 44, of the 300 block of Thompson Ave., West Point, is charged with one count each of felony assault on a law enforcement officer and misdemeanor resisting arrest and drunk in public.

A sheriff’s report said Deputy Scott Carnell found Dixon and a female companion seated in a vehicle at the new and unopened Circle K Mobile station on Route 33 near the Interstate 64 interchange when he arrived last Saturday to investigate report of a suspicious vehicle. Both occupants appeared intoxicated and were engaged in an argument.

When Carnell ordered Dixon out of the vehicle to gain separation from the female, the suspect became aggressive, striking the deputy on the arm. Carnell attempted to arrest Dixon, whereupon the two struggled. Carnell wrestled the suspect to the ground, firing a tazer stun weapon and using pepper spray to subdue the suspect. Two state police troopers arrived to help place the suspect in custody.

Dixon was being held without bond in Henrico Jail East. The female was not charged.
