Murder suspect arrested in NK

A man wanted in connection with the murder of his girlfriend in Buckingham County has been arrested in New Kent County. A State Police trooper arrested Christopher J. Moseley, 20, of the 100 block of Old Darby Town Road, Dillwyn, following a traffic stop around 3 a.m. on May 1 at the 215 mile marker on eastbound Interstate 64 in New Kent.

State Police information officer Sgt. Thomas Molnar said the trooper noticed the 2013 Ford F-150 pickup the suspect drove had no license plates. Upon stopping the vehicle and through the trooper’s investigation, it was determined that the vehicle had been stolen from a car dealership in Goochland County. Further investigation revealed Moseley was being sought in connection with the on-going homicide investigation in Buckingham. The suspect was arrested without incident. He was held without bond in Henrico County Jail East before being turned over to Buckingham authorities.

Recent arrests made in New Kent

Sgt. Brent Thomas arrested Holly Suzanne Whitt, 22, of the 13700 block of Rockahock Road, on April 23 after he responded to a Rockahock Road address to investigate a complaint about a dispute between family members. The suspect had been told to leave the property but refused to do so. When Thomas tried to issue a summons for trespassing, she bolted toward nearby woods. As Thomas apprehended her, she allegedly struck the deputy on the head with a closed fist.

Charles City man to serve 3 years

A Charles City man will serve a three-year prison sentence after accepting a plea agreement from commonwealth’s attorney Rob Tyler in Charles City Circuit Court.

Brian Wayne Slone, 38, of 4800 Barnetts Road, entered guilty pleas on Tuesday to one count of abduction, two misdemeanor counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and a misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana (second offense.)

In a summary of evidence, Tyler said Slone got into an argument last Sept. 15 with a girlfriend and would not leave the house despite her efforts. A scuffle broke out and she sustained a broken hand. The misdemeanors stem from the defendant admitting he allowed his two sons to smoke marijuana in the period of January to September 2012.

Under the agreement, Slone received 10 years in prison with seven suspended on the abduction charge and must pay $1,650.29 in restitution stemming from medical bills. One year was suspended on each of the three misdemeanor charges.
