A multi-jurisdictional grand jury has handed up indictments on four men and two women, all Richmond residents, who are charged with multiple drug distribution and conspiracy to distribute counts in New Kent County.

In November, New Kent investigators working with the Twin Rivers Drug Task Force began conducting a series of controlled drug buys utilizing undercover informants. Most of the buys dealt with cocaine, but one suspect allegedly sold heroin.

The grand jury met at King William Court House on Dec. 12 and arrests began Dec. 19 with the apprehension of Michael Anthony Winston, 45, of the 2300 block of Grace St., on three counts each of cocaine distribution and conspiracy to distribute. The charges stem from alleged drug buys on Nov. 14, 15, and 20.

The next day (Dec. 20), authorities arrested James Claude Whitehurst, 66, of the 4000 block of Sharon Court, on two counts of heroin distribution stemming from alleged buys on Nov. 14 and 21.

Authorities arrested three suspects on Dec. 27 including Reavell Lovonachek Williams, 27, of the 1200 block of Idlewood Ave., on one count each of cocaine distribution and conspiracy on Nov. 21; Jenna Danielle Bley, 29, of the 2900 block of Chamberlayne Ave., on two counts each of cocaine distribution and conspiracy relating to buys conducted Nov. 14 and 15; and Patrice A. Inge, 53, of the 3600 block of Hargrove Ave., on one count each of cocaine distribution and conspiracy on Nov. 20.

The sixth suspect, Calvin Terrell Worthington, 28, of the 1300 block of Wallace St., was apprehended on Jan. 5 and charged with two cocaine distribution counts and one count of conspiracy. Sales allegedly took place on Nov. 18 and 21.

The conspiracy charges allegedly link Winston with the two women and Williams with Worthington.

New Kent Sheriff F.W. “Wakie” Howard Jr. labeled the arrests as “an excellent operation involving cooperation between New Kent sheriff’s personnel and authorities in Richmond.”
Following their arrests, the six suspects were being held without bond in Henrico Jail East.

All appeared Monday in New Kent Circuit Court for arraignment and bond hearings.
Judge Thomas B. Hoover denied bond for all except Williams who was granted a $25,000 bond. Commonwealth’s attorney Linwood Gregory told the court that Williams was the least involved of the suspects, serving only as a driver, presumably for Worthington.

New Kent detective Joey McLaughlin said no further arrests are anticipated.
