New Kent Academic Challenge team headed to state tournament

New Kent High School’s Academic Challenge team has qualified for the Group AA state tournament scheduled for Feb. 22 at the College of William & Mary.

New Kent finished as runner-up to Manassas Park High School during the Feb. 6 Region 3A tournament held at Poquoson.

New Kent will be defending its state title won a year ago. Last month, the team captured its fifth straight Bay Rivers District championship and followed that feat by winning the conference crown.
