What is being labeled a home invasion in the Lanexa area is under investigation by the New Kent Sheriff’s Office.

A June 19 press release from Sheriff F.W. “Wakie” Howard Jr. says just before 3 p.m. last Tuesday afternoon (June 17), a homeowner on Rockahock Road called 911 to indicate that she had returned home to find a male there, bleeding from his head. When deputies arrived, it was determined that the home invasion included an alleged aggravated assault. The victim of the assault was treated at the scene before being transferred by helicopter to a local medical facility.

The investigation continued throughout the evening, and detectives continue to evaluate evidence on possible leads. At this time, the sheriff’s office believes that the break-in was not a random act and was preplanned.

No other information was provide by the sheriff’s office. Detective Sgt. Farrar Howard is the lead on this investigation.

No description of the assailant has been given.
