New Kent man arrested on child pornography charges

A New Kent County man faces 10 counts of child pornography possession along with two distribution charges after law enforcement officials executed a search warrant at the suspect’s residence on Aug. 8.

The arrest of Forrest Blake Jones, 21, of the 7000 block of Lakeshore Drive, Quinton, follows a two month-long investigation conducted by the Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. New Kent Sheriff’s Office personnel worked with the Richmond FBI office, state police, and the attorney general’s office on the case, said New Kent Detective Joey McLaughlin.

“This is one of many pending cases in the (Richmond) area,” he said.

McLaughlin said investigators seized a laptop computer, one flash drive, and a cell phone during the raid at Jones’ residence.

“More charges could be pending depending on the outcome of forensics analysis of the laptop and flash drive,” McLaughlin said.

Jones is being held without bond in Henrico Jail East pending arraignment on Tuesday (Aug. 12) in New Kent General District Court.
