B. Elliot Bondurant, an attorney based out of West Point, has been appointed by Virginia’s General Assembly to serve as presiding judge of the 9th Circuit Court of Virginia. The 9th Circuit Court covers the counties of Charles City and New Kent, as well as King William and King & Queen.

Bondurant’s appointment came during a Nov. 10 meeting by the General Assembly in Richmond. He will replace current 9th Circuit Court Judge Thomas B. Hoover who will be retiring at the end of the year.

“I feel very honored that the General Assembly has appointed me,” said Bondurant in a Nov. 12 interview. “I take this appointment very seriously and it’s an important position that I will be occupying.”

Bondurant’s background in law extends over a 32-year period. He has operated as a lawyer based out of West Point beginning in 1982. He has also served as a substitute judge since 1991, overseeing cases at a variety of levels.

“I am well versed in the field of law and believe those were contributing attributes to my appointment,” continued Bondurant. “I have enjoyed working in the jurisdictions of the 9th Circuit Court and I look forward to serving the citizens of those counties.”

Bondurant’s appointment becomes effective Jan. 1, 2015.
