Richmond man eluding New Kent police receives year in jail

A Richmond man will spend a year in jail after pleading guilty to felony eluding in New Kent.

Donald Darrell Roberts, 42, admitted to the offense following Monday afternoon proceedings in New Kent Circuit Court.

In a summary of evidence, on Mar. 6, New Kent police were notified about a speeding vehicle on Interstate 64 fleeing from James City County. When the vehicle entered radar upon entering New Kent County, it was clocked at 90 miles per hour. Officers began pursuing the vehicle, with speeds reaching 120 miles per hour. The vehicle was eventually stopped and the driver, identified as Roberts, was arrested.

Roberts received a five-year sentence with four years suspended (one year to serve).

In other circuit court proceedings:

–Katherine Ann Baldwin, 43, of the 200 block of W. McClellan Street, Sandston, entered a guilty plea to a single count of embezzlement. In a summary of evidence, Baldwin worked as an employee of 7-Eleven on Dec. 15, 2021, and stole money while she worked there.

Baldwin received a 20-year sentence with 19 years, four months suspended (eight months to serve). She will also serve 10 days for violating pretrial conditions.

–Dennis Fernando Molina, 41, of the 5800 block of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, entered guilty pleas to one count each of forgery and uttering. One count of false identification (second offense) was dropped as part of the agreement. Molina forged documents when he was arrested during a July 10 offense.

Under the agreement, Molina received a 10-year sentence with nine years, five months suspended (seven months to serve) on the uttering conviction. All 10 years on the forgery charge were suspended.

–Ashley Threat, 26, currently of Henrico Jail East, will serve the mandatory minimum of six months for assaulting a law enforcement officer. In a summary of evidence, Threat attacked a female guard while incarcerated on Oct. 1, 2021. She received a five-year sentence with four years, six months suspended.
