Woodford woman dies in Charles City car accident

A Woodford woman has died in Charels City as the result of an accident on July 7.

According to the Virginia State Police report, around 4:50 p.m., officers responded to a single-vehicle crash on eastbound John Tyler Memorial Highway (Route 5) just west of Adkins Road (Route 618). A preliminary investigation states that a 2006 Honda Accord ran off the road, overcorrected and overturned.

The driver, identified as Jessica Michell Childs, 42, succumbed to her injuries at the scene. She was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
