Fifteen indicted as part of New Kent grand jury deliberations
Fifteen individuals received indictments from a New Kent grand jury following Monday morning proceedings in New Kent Circuit Court:
–Mack Lee Birchfield II, 24, of the 62000 block of Hingham Drive, New Kent, on one count of credit card larceny and two counts of misdemeanor petty larceny. Birchfield allegedly stole a purse and cash belonging to Mary Odom on Mar. 7.
–Thomas Edward Burwell, 39, of the 900 block of N. 36th Street, Richmond, on a single charge of distribution of a Schedule I/II substance. Burwell allegedly distributed cocaine on Jan. 26.
–Tashion Lanique Latrell Giles, 20, of the 5500 block of Cardiff Court, Richmond, on a solo count of credit card larceny. The offense allegedly occurred on Mar. 11.
–Charles John Gray, 25, of the 8800 block of Cumberland Road, New Kent, on a single count of felony child abuse. The offense allegedly took place on Jan. 31.
–Zuri I. Jefferson, 20, of the 300 block of Brunswick Road, Richmond, on one count of felony eluding. Jefferson allegedly fled from law enforcement officers on Apr. 8.
–Daniel William Johnson, 39, of the 800 block of Marl Hill Road, West Point, on one charge each of driving while intoxicated (third or subsequent offense) and misdemeanor driving suspended. The offenses allegedly occurred on Apr. 15, 2023.
–Christopher Alex Litwin, 41, of the 300 block of Morris Lane, Shacklefords, on one count each of carrying a concealed weapon (second offense) and misdemeanor driving suspended. The offenses allegedly took place on Mar. 4.
–Deazionea Louweaze Manning, 25, of the 4900 block of Casablanca Road, Virginia Beach, on one count each of violating protective order while in possession of a firearm, and misdemeanor carrying a concealed weapon. The defendant allegedly was in possession of a 9mm handgun on Nov. 7, 2023, while under the issuance of a protective order.
–Ja’mire Savion McCoy, 22, of the 1300 block of Peabody Drive, Hampton, on one charge each of distributing marijuana (greater than one ounce but less than five pounds) and felony eluding. McCoy was allegedly trying to escape police on Sept. 26, 2023, and when he was arrested, marijuana was discovered in his vehicle.
–Antonio Lamont Morris, 35, of the 500 block of Rosegill Road, Richmond, on one count each of possession of a Schedule I/II drug, felony failure-to-appear, and misdemeanor fleeing law enforcement officers. Morris allegedly possessed cocaine and fentanyl on Mar. 2, 2023, while fleeing from law enforcement officers. He also allegedly failed to appear for a court date for those crimes.
–Kristina Lee Ortiz, 50, of the 100 block of Maxton Lane, Williamsburg, on a solo count of breaking and entering. The defendant allegedly broke into the dwelling of Walter Ortiz on Sept. 1, 2021.
–Janicia Latisha Phillips, 35, of the 8100 block of Tidewater Trail, Urbanna, on a single count of possession of a Schedule I/II drug. Phillips allegedly possessed cocaine on Mar. 17.
–Sha’La Deloris Tucker, 32, of the 11000 block of Knockholt Lane, New Kent, on one charge of felony child abuse. The offense allegedly took place on Jan. 10.
–Robert E. Wilburn, 35, of the 1600 block of Outpost Road, Lanexa, on a lone charge of possession of a Schedule I/II drug. Wilburn was allegedly in possession of cocaine on Jan. 22.
–Kasey Abigail Jacqueline Zahn, 28, of the 5800 block of Wensleydale Drive, New Kent, on one count each of possession of a Schedule I/II drug and delivering drugs to a prisoner. The defendant allegedly possessed cocaine on Aug. 16, 2023, and attempted to deliver drugs to a prisoner on Oct. 19, 2023.
