New Kent man indicted on charges stemming from allegedly stealing HVAC equipment
A New Kent man has been indicted on several charges stemming from allegedly stealing property as part of Monday morning indictments certified by a New Kent grand jury.
Christopher Thomas Batkins, 31, of the 3600 block of Hopewell Road, was indicted on one count each of grand larceny, intent to sell stolen property, felony destruction of property, possession of burglary tools, misdemeanor breaking and entering, and misdemeanor obtaining money by false pretenses. The indictments allege that on Jan. 31, Batkins stole property that included an HVAC system belonging to Nicholas Nance.
In other indictments certified by the grand jury:
–David Wayne Ashberry Jr., 33, of the 100 block of White Neck Drive, Foster, on one charge each of possession of a Schedule I/II drug, possession of a gun by a nonviolent felon, and possession of a gun while in possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The indictment alleges the defendant possessed methamphetamine on May 12, and also had a firearm in his possession as well.
–Brandon Charles Bates, 39, of the 4900 block of Darbytown Road, Richmond, on a lone count of possession of Schedule I/II drug. The defendant allegedly committed the offense on Feb. 1.
–Zachary Burnette Bradley, 21, of the 5900 block of Toe Ink Terrance, Quinton, on one charge each of possession of a Schedule I/II drug and felony eluding of police. Bradley allegedly fled from authorities on May 24, 2023, and when he was taken into custody, had cocaine on his person.
–Lonya Nickole Brammer, 29, of the 4200 block of Old Holly Hills Road, Charles City, on a solo count of possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The defendant allegedly possessed amphetamine on Jan. 4.
–Amilcar Gilberto Perez Bravo, 28, of the 200 block of Pointer Circle, Newport News, on a lone charge of possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The defendant allegedly possessed cocaine on Mar. 28.
–Joseph Ryan Brophy, 27, of the 7000 block of Angel View Lane, Lanexa, on one count each of possession of a Schedule I/II drug and possession of a gun while in possession of a Schedule I/II drug. Brophy allegedly possessed a combination of methamphetamine and Fentanyl on May 30 and also was in possession of a firearm at the same time.
–Robert Raymond Giers Jr., 44, of the 100 block of Bypass Road, Williamsburg, on a single charge of possession of a Schedule I/II drug. Giers allegedly possessed methamphetamine on Apr. 1.
–Todd Randolph Guthrie, 41, of the 400 block of Chiappa Road, Sandston, on one charge each of extortion (by writing) and possession of a weapon by a violent felon. Guthrie allegedly wrote information to his victim on Mar. 21, with a subsequent investigation revealing he was in possession of a weapon.
–Barry Wayne Hague, 59, of the 2300 block of Maplewood Road, Henrico, on one count each of possession of a Schedule I/II drug and misdemeanor driving while intoxicated on drugs. Hague allegedly possessed cocaine and drove under its influence on Apr. 18.
–Richard L. Harrington Sr., 42, of the 100 block of Commerce Street, Richmond, on one count each of possession of a Schedule I/II drug and possession of a weapon by a violent felon. The offenses allegedly took place on Apr. 28.
–Anthony Jerome Henry Jr., 20, and Paul Linwood Johnson, 34, both currently of Henrico Jail East, Barhamsville, on one count of delivering drugs to a prisoner. The offense allegedly took place at the facility on May 19.
–Matthew Brian McCormack, 52, of the 500 block of Roycroft Street, Williamsburg, on one count each of driving while intoxicated (third or subsequent offense) and misdemeanor speeding (20 miles or more over the speed limit). The offenses allegedly took place on Jan. 15.
–Austin Clay Nicholson, 28, of the 2300 block of Grand Strand Drive, Williamsburg, on a lone count of possession of a Schedule I/II drug. Nicholson allegedly possessed a combination of Fentanyl Ketamine, and Xylazine on Feb. 20.
–Brian Wayne Parsons, 49, of 15 Becky’s Lane, Deltaville, on one charge each of possession of a Schedule I/II drug and misdemeanor eluding police. Parson allegedly possessed methamphetamine on May 19 after being pulled over after a brief pursuit.
–Vincent Lee Richardson, 58, of the 2900 block of Stratton Major Road, Shacklefords, on a solo charge of driving on a suspended license after being revoked for driving while causing endangerment. The offense allegedly occurred on April 16.
–Katherine Maria Sheridan, 41, of the 11000 block of Oakford Rive, New Kent, on one charge each of possession of a Schedule I/II drug and misdemeanor driving while intoxicated (second offense). Sheridan allegedly operated a vehicle while intoxicated on March 23 and allegedly was in possession of cocaine.
–Zachary Eugene Taylor, 54, of the 1000 block of Tallgrass Court, Richmond, on one count each of possession of a Schedule I/II drug and assault and battery on a law enforcement officer. The defendant allegedly possessed an illegal substance on Mar. 9 and attacked a police deputy while he was being arrested.
–Timothy Joseph Thomas, 43, of the 8100 block of Carrie Lane, Hayes, on one count each of felony eluding of police and misdemeanor driving revoked. The incident allegedly took place on Feb. 19.
