The project, which was requested by the school board for the upcoming fiscal cycle, will be funded through capital improvement money from Colonial Downs. Renovations of the field are expected to begin in late May and take three months to complete, with the expectation that it will be completed in time for the beginning of the Fall 2025 sports season.

In other actions taken by county supervisors:

–Approved unanimously to enter into a non-exclusive Cable franchise agreement with Cox Cable. The franchise agreement will allow the company to continue to provide services to New Kent citizens for the next 10 years with an option for an additional five.

–Approved the purchase of video equipment in the amount of $11,958.99 for the Health and Human Services building conference room. Contingency funds will be used to fund the purchases.
