A Providence Forge man will spend the next eight years in prison stemming from drug charges and having sex with a minor after agreeing to terms of a plea agreement reached during Apr. 2 proceedings in New Kent Circuit Court.

Caleb Shane Evans, 21, of the 4300 block of Wigeon Drive, entered guilty pleas to one count of distributing a Schedule I/II drug (first offense), one count of distributing a Schedule I/II substance (second offense), and eight counts of misdemeanor having consensual sex with a child 15 years or older as part of the pela deal. One charge of possession of a Schedule I/II drug, distributing a Schedule IV drug, two counts of possessing child pornography, and nine counts of producing child pornography were dropped as part of the agreement.

In a summary of evidence provided by New Kent Commonwealth’s Attorney Scott Renick, in February 2024, New Kent Sheriff’s Office received information about possible narcotic distribution in the Brickshire neighborhood of New Kent County. A month-long investigation led to the Twin River Drug Task Force executing a search warrant, leading to the search of Evans’ residence. After the seizure, the search warrant allowed New Kent Sheriff’s Office to extract data from the defendant’s cell phone, which uncovered images and videos of two juveniles engaging in sexual activities with Evans.

Evans was sentenced to 20 years in prison with 17 suspended on each of the two drug distribution charges (six years total active to serve). He received 12 months to serve on each of the eight misdemeanor convictions on having sex with minors and will serve 24 months in jail on those charges with the other 72 months suspended.
