Vincent G. Brackett
Vincent G. Brackett, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on Oct. 24, 2024, at the age of 81.
A resident of Charles City, Virginia, Vincent was born on Dec. 17, 1942, in Coplin Plantation, Maine, to his parents, Alice LeClair and Sherman Brackett. He attended Stratton-Eustis School before joining the United States Navy, where he honorably served his country and retired as a Lieutenant Commander. After completing his distinguished military career, he pursued higher education and earned a master’s degree from the College of William and Mary. From 1992 to 2006, Vincent worked as a systems analyst and research assistant for the NASA Langley Lida Group at SAIC, Inc.
In March 1965, Vincent married Shirley Bonnell, the love of his life, with whom he shared a journey filled with love, adventure, and steadfast commitment to their community.
Vince found joy in simple pleasures, especially riding his tractor. He was deeply involved in the church community and had a passion of lifelong learning. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of his loved ones and in the legacy of dedication to family, service, and community he leaves behind.
Vincent was predeceased by his parents; his brothers, Peter and Daniel; and his sister, Vivian Flanders.
He leaves behind his devoted wife, Shirley; his son, David (Scharlene) Brackett; his daughter, Lisa (Brad) Joyce; his grandchildren, Joshua (Casey) Joyce, Hannah (Blackstone) Green, and Gabriel Joyce; his very blessed two great-granddaughters; his brother, Lynn (Elizabeth) Brackett; and sisters, Cecile Newell and Bettina Sirois.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life Service, with details of which will be announced at a later time.
