Karley Allen’s volleyball career at New Kent High School has been capped off with her being named to the East squad for this summer’s Virginia High School Coaches Association all-star game and to the second team on the 2012 VHSCA All-State team.

Allen has been named All-State for the second consecutive year. She was voted Region I and Bay Rivers District player of the year for 2012. Other senior year honors include being named first team in Richmond Area Showcase for the second straight year, second team All-Metro Richmond, and the Daily Press newspaper’s player of the year.

As a junior, she made first team All-Bay Rivers District and All-Region I. Her sophomore year she earned first team All-Bay Rivers and second team Region I honors.

Allen has posted a record-setting performance in her four years of varsity play at New Kent. She shattered career records for kills with 1,126 (old mark 701) and digs with 941 (old mark 753). Her 257 aces eclipsed the old record of 237. She also played in more games (344) than any other player in New Kent history and ranks second in career blocks with 133.

Her career numbers for kills, aces, and digs place her in the top 10 overall in the Virginia High School League record book.

Allen also holds several New Kent single season records including most kills (402), attack attempts (1,085), digs (371), games played (106), and passing percentage (.225). Single match records she set are for aces (15) and digs (32).

As a Lady Trojan, she was named the team’s rookie of the year in 2009, best all-around in 2010, most outstanding in 2011, and MVP in 2012.

Allen plans to continue her volleyball career at the college level. As yet she is undecided, but is considering UVA-Wise, Pfeiffer, Lincoln Memorial, and Lenoir Rhyne.
