New Kent golf qualifies for states

New Kent High School’s golf team finished second in the first Group 3A east sectional tournament with a team score of 325 to qualify for the Group 3A state championships at Heritage Oaks Golf Course in Harrisonburg on Oct. 14-15.

Travis Frazier paced the Trojans with a score of 78. Joining Frazier is Cole Hitchcock with a round of 81, and teammates Parker Wallace and Cole Baldwin, who both shot 83 respectively. Jordan Peck (90) and Austin Pierce (102) will also be partaking in the state championships as part of New Kent’s team.

The Trojans finished as runner-up to William Monroe’s Dragons, who posted a team score of 313. Both teams will represent the eastern sectional in the first group 3A championships.
