New Kent boys third, girls sixth at Shoot the Gun & Run Invitational track

Wins from Andrew Carlin at 1600 meters and Daysa Jones in pole vault highlighted New Kent’s performances in Saturday’s Shoot the Gun & Run Invitational track meet hosted by New Kent.

Carlin led from start to finish to run away from the field and capture the 1600 in 4:46.1. Jones, meanwhile, cleared 10 feet in the vault to dominate that event.

The Trojans placed third overall in the boys’ competition with 85½ points. The Lady Trojans scored 58½ to finish sixth. Lafayette won both, piling up 175 points in the boys’ meet and 148 in the girls’ portion.
