Brown wins four events as Lady Panthers finish third at track meet

Charles City’s Shateka Brown won four of five events for the Lady Panthers while the boys’ team won five total events during an April 24 three-team track meet.
Brown claimed victories in the 100 meter dash (14.24), 300 hurdles (72.09), long jump (14’10½”), and triple jump (28’9”) to score 20 of the Lady Panthers 35 team points en route to a third-place finish against meet winner Middlesex (50) and runner-up Rappahannock (38). Taylor Bradby was the other solo event winner, claiming the 100 meter hurdles in a time of 20.84.
On the boys’ side, Mason Jefferson claimed the 100 meter dash title (12.04), Jaquane Wyatt won the 200 meter dash (24.52), and Craig McElroy won the high jump (5’8”). Those three were joined by Marvin Brown to take the spot in the 4×100 meter relay, running a time of 46.03. Tyler Allen was also an individual event winner, claiming the triple jump with a leap of 40’0”.
Charles City’s boys earned a second-place finish, accumulating 54 points. Middlesex finished in first with a score of 86, and Rappahannock finished in third with 12.
