Goodlet, Jones, boys 4×100 earn bronze for NK at state meet
Adrianne Goodlet and Daysa Jones earned third place finishes in their respective events, as the Lady Trojans of New Kent finished 15th at the Group 3A State Track and Field championships at Harrisonburg High School.
Goodlet ran a time of 12.78 in the girls’ 100 meter dash and Daysa Jones cleared 10’0” in the pole vault to earn bronze medals in the events. Goodlet added a sixth place finish in the girls 400 meter dash (59.79), and teamed with Jones, Abby Spangler, and Kayla Davis for a sixth place finish in the girls 4×100 meter relay with a season best time of 50.96.
For the boys, New Kent’s 4×100 relay made up of team members Nick Williams, Sean McMillian, R.J. Morris, and Nick Crewe earned the bronze with a time of 44.53 to help the team to a 21st place victory at the state meet. Andrew Carlin finished fifth in the 3200 meter run with a time of 9:47.67, and Griffin Kowal’s 11’6” clearance in the pole vault was good enough for a sixth place finish.
Blacksburg’s girls and Christiansburg’s boys claimed the group 3A team titles.
