Wallace qualifies for state golf, New Kent fourth in region

New Kent’s Parker Wallace qualified for the Group 3A state golf tournament by carding a 77 on the par 72 Brickshire Golf Club course during the 3A region tournament held Oct. 6-7. He placed 11th overall among individual competitors.

Wallace led New Kent to a fourth place finish in the team standings. The top four Trojan golfers totaled 324 strokes. William Monroe won the region crown with 309 followed by Loudoun Valley (310) and Kettle Run (319).

Cole Hitchcock fired an 80 while Bryce Paige (81) and Austin Pierce (86) completed New Kent’s scoring. Cole Baldwin shot 88 and Jackson Gray finished at 104.

Other team scores: Brentsville 338, Southampton 367, Petersburg 440, Hopewell 559.
