Charles City Lady Panthers volleyball team snapped an eight-game losing streak and claimed their first home victory in impressive fashion with a 25-10, 25-7, 25-5 sweep of the Carver Wolverines on Oct. 15. The win is the first for the hosts in their home gymnasium since the reestablishing of the program.

Charles City begin to distance themselves in the first set. An ace from junior Keanna Motley was subsequently followed by key serving from Jaelah Wyatt to give the hosts a 10-4 lead. Charles City’s athleticism provided a spark, allowing the nimble Lady Panthers to reel off the final eight points of the opening set to a 25-10 victory.

The group took command of set two from the onset. Motley converted two aces in a 7-0 run to give Charles City a 11-2 lead. An additional 5-0 run would give the hosts a comfortable double digit lead at 16-3, before hammering away to win 25-7 in the second set. Carver posted no threat in the final frame, as the Lady Panthers coasted 25-5 to close out the match.

The victory improves Charles City’s record to 2-10 on the year.
