New Kent High School’s golf team finishes third in Group 3A state championships

New Kent High School’s golf team shot a combined 657 over a two-day period at Glenrochie Country Club in Abingdon to finish in third place in the Group 3A State Championships on Oct. 12-13.

The Trojans finished behind host school and eventual winner Abingdon High School (608), runner-up Hidden Valley (624), and ahead of Bay Rivers District foe Warhill (731) who finished in fourth.

Parker Wallace accumulated a score of 149 for New Kent, good enough for not only a third place overall finish but to also receive accolades to be named to the Group 3A all-state team. Other scores for New Kent were Robb Kinder (164), Bryce Paige (177), Jackson Gray (178), and Ted Gentile (181). Cole Baldwin shot an 81 on the first day of the event.
