New Kent athletes receive All-Conference honors in football, volleyball, field hockey

Several New Kent High School athletes have won Colonial Rivers Conference 25 All-Conference honors in football, volleyball, and field hockey, including four student/athletes who have earned first team distinction.

Senior running back Davion Barnes and freshman defensive back C.J. Reeders have been named first team in football. Winning second team honors are senior wide receiver R.J. Morris, junior linebacker Hunter Pitts, and sophomore defensive lineman Trent Ragland. Receiving honorable mention are senior offensive guards Josh Dixon and Joe Dixon.

In volleyball, senior outside hitter Sydney Griffith is a first team selection. Senior outside hitter Paige Simpson and junior middle blocker Kaitlyn Claytor are on the second team. Senior setter Emiley Angle and sophomore libero Jada Evans received honorable mention.

Griffith has also been named to the All-3A East Region second team.

Senior midfielder Maddie Collins has been selected for the first team in field hockey. Making the second team are senior forward Torun Carlson, senior midfielder Ashleigh Bedwell, and junior defender Chandler Dagenhart. Honorable mention goes to senior midfielder Carly Housden and senior goalie Kindred Grey.

First and second team selections Griffith, Claytor, Simpson, Collins, Carlson, Bedwell, and Dagenhart have been named to All-Academic teams, meaning each boasts a 3.0 or better grade-point average.
