New Kent’s Kowal breaks pole vault meet record at Shoot the Gun & Run Invitational

Griffin Kowal cleared 13 feet, 6 inches in the pole vault to not only win the event but set a new meet record and help New Kent finish sixth overall in Saturday’s annual Shoot the Gun & Run Invitational track meet hosted by New Kent.
The Trojans scored 54 points. Good Counsel (Md.) won the team title with 96 followed by Lafayette (87) and Courtland (63). Charles City placed 14th with five points. Sixteen schools competed in the meet.
On the girls’ side, New Kent’s Lady Trojans placed 11th overall out of 15 schools with 16.33 points. Lafayette won with 119 followed by J.R. Tucker (98) and James Monroe (84).
