Allen wins two events as Panthers finish fourth at home meet

Charles City’s Tyler Allen finished in a tie for first in the boys’ long jump and joined teammates Cameron Vaden, Mason Jefferson, and Troy Crawley to claim gold in the 4×100 meter relay to help Charles City to a fourth place finish during an Apr. 5 regular season home meet.
The Panthers accumulated 68 team points in the five-team meet. Hampton Roads Academy won with a total of 133 points, followed by Northumberland’s 108, and Cape Henry Collegiate’s 90. Essex finished behind the hosts with 59 points.
Allen leaped 19’3” in the long jump, tying Rychoane Curry of Northumberland for the top spot. The Panthers 4×100 relay team posted a season best time of 46.36 to win that event.
On the girls’ side, the Lady Panthers put together an 18 point effort, good enough for a fifth place finish. Hampton Roads scored 152 points to win the meet, followed by Northumberland (92.5), Essex (83.5), and Cape Henry Collegiate (36).
