New Kent boys second in first Bay Rivers track meet

New Kent’s host Trojans scored 100 points to finish second overall as all 10 Bay Rivers District schools got together Wednesday afternoon for track and field. New Kent’s Lady Trojans, meanwhile, scored 40.5 to place sixth.

Powerful Lafayette won both boys and girls portions of the meet with respective totals of 162.5 and 175.5. Tabb placed third for boys with 63.5 followed by Jamestown (58.5), Grafton and Bruton (57), Poquoson and Smithfield (48), York (39.5) and Warhill (29). Grafton’s girls took second (128) followed by Tabb (109), Smithfield (56), York (50), New Kent, Bruton (38), Warhill (33), Jamestown (22), and Poquoson (10).

Griffin Kowal claimed New Kent’s lone first place finish, clearing 11-6 to win pole vault.
